I love to start things …
And when I do, I go all in. Want to try canoeing? Buy the membership and go everyday for an entire summer. Want to have a flower farm? Buy 250 rose shrubs and a walk-in cooler and start filling mason jars. Want to have a side hustle with your best friend? Order multiple shipments of printed t-shirts and go wild on social media. Lotion bars, stationary, veganism and bird watching are just a few of the other opportunities I have immersed myself in with every fiber of my being.
And guess what I have to show for it all? A sunburn, an acre of weeds to pull, bins of unsold t-shirts, jars of lotion, piles of paper, a shelf full of cookbooks, a tower of bird feeders and too many email addresses to count. In other words, I’m really good at sunk costs.
You could say that’s my strength.
But not writing. Writing is the one thing, maybe the only thing, that I just can’t quit.
And by the grace of God, writing hasn’t cost me a thing.
And so I write, the click clack of my fingers a most soothing sound. And I write some more. And I keep writing.
Clickity Clackity. Click. Click. Clack.
And because I am a downright sucker for the grace of God, I find myself writing mostly about that - the grace that smacks me sideways from the moment I open my eyes to the minute I turn off Spider Solitare and tuck in for the night.
Good grief I love me some solitare.
It’s all such wild and wondrous grace, isn’t it?
I’m so glad you’re here. Stop on by anytime.
Hi there. I live with my family outside of Columbus, Ohio in a mostly rural area. We have four barn cats to prove it. Except we don’t have a barn. I also work as a School Counselor at a Middle School where I am reminded everyday that tweens and teens are offensively loud and stinky and also delightfully wild and witty. They are a whole vibe and I love them. Well, so long as they are adequately deodorized.
